Returned item to seller, now seller wont respond to me or return $$$

Bought a piece of computer hardware from a seller. It arrived dead, non-working. Seller has a 7 day warranty on the item, as stated in the listing. Contacted the seller, he was rude, but told me to mail it back to him. He gave me his return address. I mailed it back, have delivery confirmation proof he's received it. Its been a week. Now he won't respond to my emails when I ask him what the delay is in refunding me. Had a friend send a test message to the seller about one of the other items the seller is still selling on ebay, just to see if the seller is home or maybe his email is down?
