Well, I have been waiting for this to get fixed in an update for a few months now, but nothing. My iPhone 3g, not jailbroken, will only connect to wifi when it wants to.
When I bring the phone out of sleep mode, it is always in edge. Once in a while, it will connect to wifi about 15 seconds after i come out of sleep mode, or randomly while in an app. Most of the time, I have to stick to edge to do anything online. When I try to manually connect, i get the error "unable to connect to linksys"
(that might not be the exact message. I can't see it right now because my iPhone has suddenly decided to use the wifi correctly.)
But anyways, I don't want wifi only randomly!! edge *****!! I've tried everything including restarting phone, erasing phone, deleting wifi access point and trying to reconnect, to no avail... *** APPLE!!!! FIX IT!
