Can't maintain WiFi connection, ...

iPhone 3G running 3.1.2.
I've been using a D-Link DI-524 router. No problems maintaining connection. Been using the phone over a year.
Just bought a new D-Link DIR-825 rev B router fw 2.02NA.

Periodically I now get an error on the iPhone stating, "incorrect WiFi password". This often occurs waking up from sleep, but can also happen while in the middle of using WiFi.

If I lock and phone and unlock it, it usually reconnects.

I've tried every permutation of authentication setting on the router. WPA, WPA2 and cipher TKIP and AES to now avail.

On the DLink forums, folks are complaining about this issue with the DIR-615, 655 and 825 routers. But I've seen other threads here discussing this issue with other routers as well.

What is causing this issue? What does it mean when the iPhone reports this? Is it an authentication problem or does it indicate any type of wifi communications error?

I need to get this resolved. If it is the router, I can return it. I was thinking of trying a Linksys WRT610N router instead.
